Mercy Relief Sends Team to Earthquake-Stricken Myanmar
Mercy Relief's medical team responding to urgent medical needs among the affected community in Naypyitaw, Myanmar.

In response to the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, Mercy Relief arrived on the ground to distribute emergency shelter, food and water, as well as provide medical assistance to communities in hard-hit areas of Myanmar.

Executive Director, Muhammad Ashik, with food, water and shelter supplies to be distributed to affected communities.

Since travelling from Yangon to Naypyitaw, the team – led by Board Member LTC (Retd) Mejar Singh-Gill and Executive Director Muhammad Ashik – worked to address the community's urgent needs, where many have been left displaced and without access to water, power and telecommunications.

Mercy Relief's efforts are expected to benefit up to 10,000 individuals across Myanmar. This mission is also the first to include a medical team from Singapore into the hard hit areas of the region.

In the coming days, the team will continue their journey to worst-affected regions such as Mandalay and Sagaing, to reach more communities with limited access to services. The earthquake, which struck close to Myanmar's second-largest city of Mandalay, has left over 3,000 casualties and many more injured, displaced and in need of immediate relief.

To rise to these challenges, Mercy Relief has launched its 'Myanmar-Thailand Emergency Relief' fund. We seek the support of our generous donors to join us as we continue to respond to the situation in Myanmar and extend our help to earthquake-stricken and vulnerable families.

Together, we can embody the spirit of showing solidarity and compassion, to uplift those in need.
